K A J S Ö D E R H O L M exhibits paintings focused on faces and bodies. His journey started in the archipelago of Turku in Finland. There, in early age the artist got an interest in art and anthropology. Since then people from all over the world have crossed his paths in the Himalayas, Africa, Mexico, Guatemala and in Peru.
Back in his studio in the outskirts of Helsinki, the creating process starts, using sketches and photographs from his journeys. In this process the persons get the part of an actor. The paintings, usually on wood, with thin layers of acrylic paint allow the veins of the wood to show through, add an extra surrealistic touch. The persons that appear in these paintings are close and distant at the same time. There's an atmosphere of serenity – the troubles they have seen are far away.
